Overview

The Electric-Pulse 44, shortened to the E-44, is a designated marksman rifle that fires small amounts of super-heated plasma via a magnetic coil suspension field. The plasma munition acts like a HEAT penetrator does, easily piercing even the thickest Arachnid armour at long ranges thanks to the speed at which it is fired.

History

The Yinimina Precision Devices Electric-Pulse 44 was designed as a replacement to the Morita Mk1 Long, a designated marksman rifle originally tasked with picking off key enemy targets. The evolving enemy on the battlefield required an evolved weapon to counteract them, and the E-44 was born.

YPD was asked to create a weapon that could hold up to the Morita Mk1 Long in terms of longevity on the battlefield, and general killing power, but the Mobile Infantry were surprised to find that their new DMR did not use conventional munitions like they expected, but a battery in place of a magazine and a plasma ball instead of a bullet.

The Infantry’s first opinions were, understandably, negative, but these were soon assuaged by the E-Pulse 44’s remarkable performance in combat, easily capable of taking down even a Tiger in just two shots. Though this came at a slight price; the firing rate of the E-44 being significantly lower than the Morita Mk1 Long due to the charge up time of the magnetic coils.
