Overview

The Emancipator is a heavy pistol, loaded with the same round as the Morita Mk3. It is slow firing, with hefty recoil, and a heavy frame to match, though some troopers swear by its stopping power.

Though less commonly issued than the Peacemaker, all MI troopers are trained with the Emancipator, and can request one from the armoury before a drop.

History

The Emancipator was developed specifically to combat the arachnid menace. Whilst the Peacemaker was an effective and flexible weapon against a human foe, its original caliber lacked the sufficient heft required for arachnids. The Emancipator was developed to fire a rifle round in order to address this.

Originally, the weapon was seen as a spectacular boondoggle, but a slow process of revision over time earned it status as a niche weapon amongst the Mobile Infantry. That said, many have criticised its development, as there are few situations wherein a few spare magazines for a main weapon would not serve more purpose than a suitable sidearm when facing arachnids.

As with the Peacemaker, the Emancipator has been chambered in many different rounds over its lifetime. The current revision has been updated to share the Morita Mk3’s round.
