The M2A-PAS “Ventilator” is a powerful pump action shotgun, used for clearing rooms and dealing with arachnids at close quarters.
The Ventilator was introduced to supply the MI with a robust and reliable breaching weapon, with a heavy enough gauge to be able to tackle arachnids. Unlike most newly issued weapons, it was an instant success with troopers, who approved of the stopping power, rugged design, and theatrical effect of pumping a shell home.
The simple nature of the Ventilator’s design quickly made it popular with technical enthusiasts. A range of after-market modifications was developed in a short period of time, some more authorised than others. Chief among the less accepted modifications was the ‘slamfire’ adjustment, which removed a safety feature built into the Ventilator, and allowed the shotgun to be fired more quickly with an added risk of negligent discharge.
