Patient's left leg was severed by an Arachnid talon. Completely severed below the knee. |
| Treatment | Initial treatment - application of tourniquet, and haemostatic gauze around the stump. Ketamine and TXA administered. Second tourniquet required as bleeding was not stopping although this eventually had the desired effect. Hextend administered via IV to prevent haemorrhagic shock.
Patient had to be taken on a litter to a FOB where he was medically evacuated. |
