Details | Hardrock - Operation Sweeping Leg
Patient suffered a through-and-through gunshot wound to the right shoulder. Internal damage at a minimum and major arteries avoided. |
Treatment | Haemorrhagic control obtained using an XStat injector, packing gauze, and a bandage. TXA not required. Blood transfusion not required. Ketamine auto-injector applied to the thigh due to amount of pain.
Patient was seen aboard the ship. Wound examined: 1. Entry point in anterior deltoid approx 1cm x 1cm, exit wound through posterior deltoid. 2. Minor damage to the deltoid and posterior deltoid, no bone damage. Near-full functionality. 3. Internal cavity examined for damage.
Following this, the following treatment was given: 1. Wounded area cleaned and debrided. Lidocaine applied. 2. Entrance and exit wounds sutured. Sutures to remain for seven days.
Patient was prescribed: 1. 16 cyclofenal, 100mg, to be taken at most 3 times a day 2. 21 co-amoxiclav, 500mg, to be taken 3 times a day for 7 days. |
