| Treatment | Initial treatment administered by Specialist Lucia Dufaux - bleeding was controlled and patient secured, thereby preventing further deterioration and death.
After arrival, standard dose of ketamine and TXA (intramuscular) was administered to prevent shock and to control bleeding due to damage to spleen. IV line placed and hextend administered - rationale being that spleen was damaged and possibly unable to regulate haemorrhagic shock. Patient noted to have a positive response to this treatment. Thereafter, medically evacuated. Aboard the ship a spleen transplantation was required due to damage. Patient stabilised and placed in a healing chamber following surgery. |
