A planet that prides itself on it's raw material abundance and its lush flora, Illidan is a Mining and R&D Colony with a heavy focus on hard-work and technological advance. Born from mainly French, Japanese, and Australian colonists from the Sol System's Earth, Illidan is home to many traditions, those in their bigger part inherited from Earth's Eastern hemisphere. The people of Illidan follow the UCF's calendar and has similar holidays.

Planetology

Illidan orbits the single star Kars in the Outer Rim, being the second planet in it's solar system with a mixed climate between a polar-like Northern hemisphere and a Temperate Southern hemisphere - all while sporting an average temperature of 7.1°C. The length of day of this planet is 24 hours and 17 minutes in relation to Earth, and it's Orbital Period is 351 days in relation to Earth. Illidan's gravity is 1.32 times the one present on Earth. Illidan's key feature is it's abundance in raw material mainly used in the War Effort against the Arachnid Empire - that being the Sulfur surplus in Illidan's sulfur mines. Illidan has a vast flora but a thin fauna.

History

Illidan was first colonized during the year of 2273 by a small group of settlers that originated from Earth's Eastern hemisphere, mainly Japan, and Australia, those whom wrote a constitution for their new colony shortly upon arriving, forming the basis of law inspired in a monarchical empire for the planet there onward, the Hayashian Empire, shortly integrating itself into the UCF as an official Federation World. Illidan soon became a very important colony for the UCF, given the immediate discovery of it's abundance of Sulfur and it's vast and unique flora. It gained recognition for it's advanced mining and R&D facilities that were quickly spruced up by the group of hard-working settlers, facilities that contribute heavily to this day to the Military Front and Medicinal Front with the steady large supply of Gunpowder manufactured on-site and the steady supply of synthetic drugs inspired by local flora that aid in many common and uncommon disease, not to mention the Scientifical breakthroughs achieved through the R&D done over there, and the young Combat Stimulants market that is starting to take traction.

It was in May, 2273, that the first mining center kicked into action with roughly 150 workers at the start. Due to the surplus present in the Sulfur Mines it quickly turned a profit way beyond what was expected - and also generated greed. This prompted the birth of the Sulfuria Corp; Illidan's first's enterprise. They took the forefront of the Sulfur Mining operations on Illidan and controls to this date a monopoly over it.

In December, 2275, it was made the first discovery of a plant which it's oil extract could directly combat certain viral diseases - a method of treatment that actually involves a cure over simply treating symptoms when it comes to viral infections. This discovery was made by the Ineah Pharmaceutical R&D, a Research facility focused on Pharmaceutical Technological advances. This plant was scientifically named Pneumapugnax, that being thanks to the fact the first viral-related disease it efficiently combated was Viral Pneumonia.

In January, 2283, there was the first incident in a Sulfur Mine of Illidan, owned by a subsidiary of Sulfuria Corp, which left slightly over 6000 injured, and 300 dead. Lack of proper equipment caused a less experienced Miner to accidentally cause the ignition of the Sulfur present, causing then a chain-reaction that left many with 3rd degree burns, and burnt many alive. The mine was closed down for roughly two years before re-opening under a new subsidiary of Sulfuria Corp with a promise of better equipment and better training for it's personnel.

In December, 2289, the first performance-enhancing drugs started to be researched with the discovery of a new plant called the Hearthinducera, name given due to the fact the oil extract of this plant when mixed with other key ingredients reported an increase in muscular strength and attention span in humans. More research and tests are being conducted to this date in order to integrate the drug into the Combat Stimulants program for the UCF's Mobile Infantry.

In February, 2293, died at the age of 89 the first Monarch of Illidan, Queen Jane I. The Hayashi addressed her Majesty's death publicly and shared their own words of grief. The cause of death was deemed to be natural and of age. The monarchy of Illidan is matriarchal in nature, so the eldest daughter of Jane Hayashi, Anna Hayashi, ascended to the throne by right of birth, turning then Queen Anna I, at the age of 62.

In August, 2293, died at the age of 63 the second Monarch of Illidan, Queen Anna I. Victim of civil war birthed in an orchestrated coup by her elder brother, Michael Hayashi, with the aid of the military and other venues of Illidan's society, Michael replaced Anna on the throne as King Michael - envious of the matriarchal aspect of his family. Many of the House of Hayashi were murdered in the process, and many casualties were had. A rough estimate of 65,000 military casualties, and over 150,000 civilian casualties, about a sixth of the colony's population then. This era is known as the Dark Era of Illidan where King Michael, with his grievous injuries, couldn't properly control the colony as he wasn't trained since birth unlike his sisters to rule the colony. Sulfuria Corp. had to briefly stop it's exports and Ineah Pharmaceutical R&D had to stop it's research, plummeting the colony's economy into the pit.

In December, 2293, after four arduous months, the UCF, starting to feel the lack of Illidan's steady supply of Gunpowder, had begun it's efforts into studying what happened over at the colony and gathered intel in how to revert the situation and fix the supply chain issue.

In February, 2294, two months after investigation had begun, the Mobile Infantry of the UCF were then deployed in force and swiftly took over the PDF of Illidan, killing a few heads of the local military and imprisoning the rest in places unknown - King Michael killed in action. The House of Hayashi were deeply investigated and the family then re-instated in power appropriately with a new democratic system in place.

In August, 2294, Sulfuria Corp. had already regained 80% of it's previous export efforts and were steadily getting back on track. Ineah Pharmaceutical R&D was also back in full strength, research continuing.

Today, 2320, the colony is prosper with many contributions made to the UCF and maintaining it's status of main Gunpowder supplier of the Federation, fueling the War Machine that now marches towards Klendathu - profits over the roof due to the sudden spike in demand.

Government

Stated above, Illidan was governed by a Monarchical Empire until unrest took over and the UCF had to intervene, replacing it with a puppet democracy where the Hayashi's act as representatives rather than actual deep rulers.

While the UCF holds full power over every matter across the whole colony, they give enough freedom to private companies and provinces to act of their own volition as long as their affairs is backed by a drive of further expanding the colony and aiming at a glorious Illidan and UCF.

Economy

Illidan's main source of capital are the Sulfur Mines and Gunpowder Factories, seconded by the Research facilities that explore the local flora in order to develop new technological advances in the Pharmaceutical world.

Despite the historical events in the colony's history, Illidan still is the main exporter of Gunpowder of the UCF, and is a direct competitor directly with other colonies focused on Pharmaceutical Research.

Points of Interest

Illidan's capital, the City of Jeanne, named after the colony's first Monarch, is a state-of-the-art megalopolis. It houses a quarter of the entire colony's population and is home to many companies, and the crown's Palace. It has many lush forests and is located at the heart of the Southern Hemisphere, sporting a temperate climate and atmosphere. Points of interests in this megalopolis are the Headquarters of Ineah Pharmaceutical R&D, which sports a museum of local flora and details behind them; the Headquarters of Sulfuria Corp, which sports the Sulfuria Museum, a museum dedicated to explaining everything about sulfur and the history behind the chemical not only in the colony but over all of humanity's history, how Gunpowder was invented, and many other interesting details.

Illidan's second major province, the City of New Tokyo, is a city located over at the heart of the Northern Hemisphere, bathed in a snowy climate and atmosphere. There isn't many points of interest other than the high mountains and many exploration possibilities in the high alps of Illidan.

The Northern Hemisphere is also home to most of the Sulfur Mines present in the colony while the Southern Hemisphere is home to most of the flora involved in the Pharmaceutical researches.
